Stand: 29.09.2026

Rollfort is a game without user accounts with a name or email and without third-party analytics tools. For the cloud save, the worldwide leaderboard and anonymous game statistics, the game uses its own game server hosted by Supabase in the EU. The optional reward videos come from Google AdMob. This policy explains which data is created while you play, where it is stored and which rights you have.

The game stores on your device:
To show your country’s flag in the game, the app reads your device’s region setting (for example “Germany”). No location data (GPS) is used. The game server also receives the country code (for example “DE”) – for the flag on the worldwide leaderboard and the country statistics (section 8).
Collecting flags: At launch and whenever you return to the app, the app also reads your device’s time zone (for example “Europe/London”) and looks up in a list shipped with the app which country it belongs to – so while traveling you get that country’s flag. The time zone is only read on your device and is not sent; there is no GPS and no evaluation of your IP address. Which country flags you have collected and which one you chose is part of your save and therefore also of your cloud save (iCloud, section 4, and the game server, section 8). The leaderboard still only receives the country from your region setting.
The data on your device is deleted when you delete the app. Only the entries in the keychain may be kept by iOS – if you reinstall the game, this is how you get your cloud save back. “Delete my server data” removes the sign-in. If you use an iCloud backup of your device, Apple backs up the data together with your other app data. Storing this data is strictly necessary for the game and the online features you use (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR); for statistics messages that have not been sent yet, section 8 applies.
If you are signed in to iCloud with your Apple Account, the game keeps a copy of your progress in iCloud key-value storage, so you find your progress on your other devices. The data is stored in your iCloud storage at Apple; I have no access to it.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (providing the feature you use). You manage iCloud at any time in the iOS Settings under “Your Name → iCloud”, where you can turn it off for apps or sign out. How Apple processes data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you are signed in to Game Center, the game reports your results (for example highest zone, score and daily campaign) and unlocked achievements to Apple’s Game Center. Other players see your leaderboard entries together with your Game Center name, depending on your Game Center settings. I can also view these leaderboards in Game Center. The game also shows your Game Center name in your profile and uses it as your display name in the game’s own worldwide leaderboard on the game server (section 8), as long as you have not chosen a name of your own. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (the leaderboard you take part in with your game).
The game is fully playable without signing in; no results are reported then. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. You control sign-in and visibility in the iOS Settings under “Game Center”. Apple is responsible for Game Center, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Apple handles purchases (for example crown packs or the Premium Pass) through the App Store. You enter payment details only with Apple; I do not receive them. After a purchase, the App Store gives the game on your device a purchase confirmation (product, transaction ID, purchase date). The game verifies it, credits the content to your progress and remembers the transaction ID so nothing is credited twice.
Apple sends me aggregated sales reports (for example product, quantity and country), but no names or contact details of buyers. The transaction IDs are part of your game progress and are therefore also part of the cloud save; for the game statistics the game additionally reports a purchase with product, price and currency, but without the transaction ID (section 8). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, for the statistics your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
In some places you can choose to watch a short video ad and get a reward (daily reward, continue, double loot). The videos are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). With the “Ad-free” purchase you get the rewards without a video – the app then loads no ads and does not start AdMob.
Which data: When videos are loaded and watched, Google processes your IP address (and from it an approximate location), device and app information (for example device model, iOS version, language, app version), identifiers – the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking (see below) –, your interactions with the ads (shown, watched, tapped) and crash and performance data of the ad SDK. Purpose: delivering ads, confirming rewards, measuring reach and billing, preventing fraud and – only with your consent – personalizing ads.
Consent (EU/EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland): Before the first ad, the app shows Google’s consent dialog (User Messaging Platform). There you decide whether Google may store and access information on your device and show personalized ads. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). Your choice is stored on your device. You can change or withdraw it at any time with effect for the future: in the game’s settings under “About & Legal → Privacy Choices”.
US states: Where a US state privacy law applies, the app does not ask for consent before the first ad. Instead, you can opt out of the use of your data for personalized ads at any time: in the game’s settings under “About & Legal → Privacy Choices” (the row appears where Google offers this choice for your state). Google then no longer uses your data for personalized ads. Details are in section 11b.
Tracking (App Tracking Transparency): Afterwards iOS asks whether Google may use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to personalize and measure ads across apps and websites of other companies. Without your permission Google does not receive the advertising identifier; the videos are still available. You can change this at any time in the iOS Settings under “Privacy & Security → Tracking”.
Recipients and third countries: Google may also process data in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission, Art. 45 GDPR) and additionally uses standard contractual clauses. How Google processes data and how long it keeps it is described in Google’s Privacy Policy and under How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. I myself only receive aggregated reports from AdMob (for example number of videos and revenue), no data about individual players.
For the cloud save, the worldwide leaderboard and anonymous game statistics, the game connects to my own game server. The game needs an internet connection to start, unless it was connected to the game server within the last 3 days (see “Protection against manipulation”). If you lose the connection afterwards, you keep playing as usual; whatever happens offline is sent later.
Provider and server location: Supabase (Supabase Pte. Ltd., Singapore) runs the game server for me as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR; a data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum) is in place with Supabase. The database is located in the EU, in an Amazon Web Services data center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (region eu-central-1). If Supabase or its subprocessors access data from countries outside the EU for operation, maintenance or support (for example from Singapore or the USA), the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses apply (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR).
Anonymous game account: On first launch the app creates an anonymous account at Supabase – a random account ID without a name, email or password. Its sign-in is stored in your device’s keychain (section 3). I do not know who is behind an account. Because all data is linked to this account ID, it still counts as (pseudonymous) personal data under the GDPR. With every connection Supabase technically processes your device’s IP address; I do not analyze it.
What is sent to the game server – always together with the account ID:
The game does not send your email address, advertising identifier (IDFA) or location data to the game server, and it sends your name only as the leaderboard display name (see above).
Protection against manipulation: To keep rewards and leaderboards fair, the game bases everything it gives out once a day (login reward, missions, Battle Pass, reward videos) on the game server’s time instead of your device’s clock. That is why the game needs an internet connection to start, unless it reached the game server within the last 3 days; for this it remembers the time of the last contact on your device (section 3). If you start offline, these rewards wait until the game server answers again. It compares your device’s clock with the server time and checks the integrity signature of your game progress (a check value made with a random key that is stored only in your iOS keychain). If the clock is off by more than 5 minutes or the signature does not match, the game reports this to the game server: for the clock, the difference in seconds; for the signature, only the reason (for example “modified”), each with app version and time. The game itself does not delete, change or block anything because of this; based on these reports, I review conspicuous accounts by hand and only remove them from the leaderboard in clear cases of manipulation. The game sends these reports even if game statistics are turned off. In addition, the game server automatically checks two things: it removes leaderboard results that cannot be reached in the game (for example a zone far beyond anything playable) from the leaderboard, and for the daily campaign it does not save them at all. If you think this is a mistake, write to me (section 10) and I will review it by hand. And to protect against overload, it counts per account and day how many campaigns, events and reports arrive and discards anything above a generous daily limit; it deletes these counters after a few days.
Who sees the data: All players see the leaderboards – with rank, the display name (Game Center name or the name you chose, otherwise “Burgherr” / “Castellan”), a short ID derived from your account ID (for example #3F9A1C), your country’s flag, best zone, score and prestige level. Only I see all other data; Supabase processes it solely on my behalf. I do not sell any data and do not use it for advertising.
Purposes and legal bases:
Retention: I keep the data as long as your game account exists. Of the online status, only the latest state and the number of minutes played per day are kept. I delete individual campaigns, events and daily results after 24 months at the latest, and accounts that have not been played with for 24 months together with all their data. IP addresses in the server and sign-in logs are deleted after 30 days at the latest. Deleted data may remain in Supabase’s backups for up to 30 days.
Deletion: In the settings under “Online & Privacy”, “Delete my server data” deletes at any time everything the game server has stored for your account: cloud save, leaderboard entries, statistics, campaigns and events. The app also forgets its sign-in; I remove the then empty account ID during the next automatic cleanup. Your game progress on the device and in iCloud is kept. If you keep playing online afterwards, the app creates a new, empty game account. You can also write to me (rollfestung@gmail.com) and include the short ID from the leaderboard – I will then delete the data of this account.
You can choose to link your game account with the Rollfort Discord server – in your profile or in the settings, in one of two ways:
What is stored: When you link, my Discord bot stores your Discord user ID, your Discord username, the link to your Discord profile picture and the time of linking together with your account ID on the game server at Supabase (section 8) – until you unlink. So that your profile shows the link even without internet, the app also remembers your Discord name and the profile picture link on your device.
What becomes visible on the Discord server: While the link exists, the bot shows your leaderboard display name, your rank, best zone, score, prestige level, your country’s flag and your place on the leaderboard on the Discord server, and it gives you a rank role. It also shows in the achievements channel when you unlock a notable achievement in the game (the achievement’s name, how many players have it, whether you were the first), and it names you among the heroes of the week in the weekly chronicle (zones gained, number of your runs and achievements that week). If you finish in the top three of the player of the day or the player of the week (see below), it shows your Discord profile picture there and mentions you; as player of the day you get the “Champion of the Day” role for 24 hours. All members of the server can see this.
Runes and crowns (only with your permission): Only if you allow it in the settings under “Show on Discord” does the bot also show how many runes you own and how many crowns you have; you can switch each of these off there at any time, and it is then deleted from the game server.
“Rollfort” connection in your Discord profile (one-tap only): The bot adds your leaderboard display name, your rank, your best zone and your prestige level there, so the Discord server can grant roles based on them (“Linked Roles”); you decide in Discord who can see this connection. To keep it up to date, the bot stores an access key from Discord (refresh token) in encrypted form on its server – for this purpose only. When you unlink, the bot removes the connection and deletes the key. You can also revoke the permission in Discord at any time under Settings → Authorized Apps.
Rewards: For linked accounts the bot creates rewards (crowns, chests, the Community banner) on the game server at Supabase; the app collects them, adds them to your save and then marks them as collected. So that the linking gift is given only once per game account and once per Discord account, and the daily bonus only once a day, the game server stores what a reward was for and when – with your Discord user ID only as a hash value (SHA-256). These entries remain after unlinking and after “Delete my server data”, without any reference to your game account, so that nobody can collect the same gift more than once (legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Giveaways: The Discord server runs giveaways with in-game prizes (crowns, chests). Only linked accounts can enter. If you enter, the bot stores your Discord user ID until 7 days after the draw (for a re-draw) and then deletes it. The bot names the winners on the Discord server; the prize is created as a reward on the game server (see Rewards). The legal basis is running the giveaway you voluntarily enter (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
Reputation on the Discord server: For the reputation system (levels and titles for activity) the bot counts, for all members of the Discord server, how many messages they write and how many minutes they spend in voice channels; it never reads or stores the content of messages. For your Discord user ID it stores only these numbers, your reputation points, your level and the days of your streak (legitimate interest in an active community, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). On request I delete your reputation data (section 10). If your account is linked, reputation level-ups also give you crowns and chests in the game.
Moderation on the Discord server: If a moderator warns someone, the bot stores the Discord user ID, the time, the reason and who gave the warning – at most 50 entries per person, until an admin deletes them. Moderation actions (deleting messages, muting, kicking, banning) are logged in a channel only the team can see. The purpose is a safe, friendly server (legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
The bot’s server: The bot runs on a server I rent from MC-HOST24 (Gericke KG, Markdorf, Germany). It holds the reputation data, the last known rank of linked accounts (for rank-up posts), which achievements linked accounts already have (for achievement posts), giveaway entries (see above), who currently is “Champion of the Day” (until the role expires after 24 hours), whether someone boosts the server (for Discord rewards), warnings, the encrypted access key and the bot’s logs (limited in size; older entries are overwritten). When you return from Discord through the bot’s web page, the server processes your IP address only briefly in memory to prevent abuse; it is not stored in access logs.
Leaderboard on the Discord server: Regardless of any link, the bot shows the top places of the world leaderboard, the daily campaign and the prestige list in the leaderboard channel – with the same details as in the app (display name, country flag, zone, score, prestige, place), so the community can follow the leaderboard there too (legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). From the same details, it names the best players of the previous day’s daily campaign every morning (player of the day) and the best of the week every Monday (player of the week, with points for daily placements and daily wins) in a separate channel. If you don’t want to appear there, write to me (section 10) and I will remove your entry from the leaderboard.
Purpose and legal basis: community features on the Discord server (rank role, live leaderboard, player of the day and of the week, achievements, weekly chronicle, giveaways). The legal basis is your consent, which you give by creating the link yourself (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Withdrawal and deletion: You can unlink at any time – in your profile with “Unlink” or on the Discord server with /unlink. The Discord data on the game server is then deleted and the bot removes your rank role. “Delete my server data” (section 8) also removes the link.
Discord: Discord is a separate service of Discord Inc. (USA). How Discord processes data when you use Discord is described in Discord’s Privacy Policy.
If you have turned on “Share With App Developers” on your device, Apple provides me with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. I cannot identify individuals from them. You control this in the iOS Settings under “Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements”.
If you write to me, I process your email address and your message to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). I delete the message once the matter is settled and no statutory retention obligations apply.
The game is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The ads in the reward videos are limited to content rated “Teen” (T) and are not directed at children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has used the game’s online features, you can delete the data on the game server in the game’s settings (“Delete my server data”) or write to me at rollfestung@gmail.com with the short ID from the leaderboard. I will then delete the data of that account.
Some US states (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and Texas) give consumers additional privacy rights. I grant these rights to all players in the USA, in addition to those in section 12:
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)), for ads under “Privacy Choices”. You delete your data on the game server yourself in the settings (“Delete my server data”), and you withdraw your consent to the game statistics there with the “Send anonymous game statistics” switch. For access or deletion by email, please tell me the short ID from the leaderboard, otherwise I cannot find your account. You delete your progress and settings on the device by deleting the app; you manage iCloud and Game Center in the iOS Settings.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority where you live.
I update this policy when the game or its services change. You always find the current version in the app under “Settings → About & Legal” and on the web at rollfort.github.io/rollfestung-web/datenschutz.
